DESCRIPTION:\nThe carnival season is something you can experience in Barcelona as well! The festival starts on Fat Thursday which is 47 days before Palm Sunday and it lasts for 7 days, ending on Ash Wednesday. Throughout this period there are several processions throughout the city, masked dances, dress parties, and you will have plenty of opportunities to taste the local cuisine.\n\n\n\nThe opening of the event takes place at 18:00 on the first day of the festival at Placa Reial and in La Rambla. At this time the main character of the carnival is revealed, and together with his helpers, their task is to spread the carnival spirit and joy throughout the celebration.\n\n\n\nAt 18:45 at the opening day of the carnival, Rei Carnestoltes (the Carnival King) holds a special speech in which he makes fun of things that have happened in the last year. There is also a large procession (Taronjada) attracting gigantic crowds to La Rambla at this time.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDuring the Saturday, there are different carnival processions throughout the city of Barcelona. The carnival ends on Ash Wednesday as the Carnival King is judged to death, bringing the carnival to an end.
